Climate-tech start-up noriware raises over CHF 1 million in pre-seed

Swiss startup noriware AG has successfully developed a seaweed-based packaging material with the potential to replace conventional plastic films. The material is 100% natural, fully home-compostable, and compatible with existing plastic production machinery. It can also be tailored for specific applications while remaining cost-competitive.
Founded by Jessica Farda, a 25-year-old HSG student, noriware has secured over CHF 1 million in a recently completed pre-seed financing round. The investment comes from experienced figures in the packaging industry and successful serial entrepreneurs, including Ertan Wittwer, Marcel Kubli, and Philip Magoulas—successful serial entrepreneurs and industry experts. Ertan Wittwer will also join noriware’s board of directors.
The funding will support the expansion of laboratory infrastructure in Lupfig, AG, and team growth, accelerating the company’s mission to tackle plastic pollution.
noriware’s breakthrough material decomposes rapidly in home compost without leaving microplastics, offering a scalable and truly sustainable alternative. While its applications span multiple industries, the initial focus is on protective films for the rapidly growing e-commerce sector. With a market potential estimated at $14.4 billion, noriware is positioned to drive lasting change in the packaging industry.
