Successful retail pilot for norifresh™ in partnership with Swiss Retailer Volg

Our first retail pilot with Volg put norifresh™ into an existing supply chain for three weeks. The result: more than 50% fewer blueberry write-offs.

In June 2026, Swiss blueberries packed with norifresh™ reached 300 Volg stores across German-speaking Switzerland.

For three weeks, the packaged punnets moved through the regular supply chain: packed at Tobi Seeobst AG, delivered through Volg’s distribution network, and sold in stores.

The pilot in numbers

  • 300 stores across Switzerland
  • 3 weeks in the retail supply chain
  • 60 packs/minute on Tobi’s packaging line
  • More than 50% fewer write-offs compared with the previous year and parallel reference distribution centers

More than 50% fewer write-offs

During the pilot, blueberry write-offs were reduced by more than 50% compared with both the previous year and parallel reference distribution centers using conventional plastic packaging.

One of the key differences is how norifresh™ manages moisture inside the pack. Fresh berries naturally release moisture after packing. Conventional plastic traps this moisture, leading to condensation and creating conditions that accelerate spoilage. norifresh™ is breathable and allows excess moisture to escape, helping to maintain a more balanced environment around the berries.

Feedback from Volg stores supported these results. Employees reported less condensation inside the packaging and observed that the berries remained dry and fresh for longer.

As one Volg store reported:

“The berries stay dry and fresh for longer than in plastic packaging, where they become moist and start to mold over time.”

And next: raspberries

The first Volg pilot showed that norifresh™ can run on existing packaging equipment, perform throughout an established retail supply chain, and reduce food waste at the same time.

300 stores. 60 packed punnets per minute. More than 50% fewer write-offs.

Building on these results, noriware and Volg are continuing the collaboration.

Together with Tobi Seeobst AG, we are now testing norifresh™ with raspberries, one of the most sensitive and loss-prone products in the berry category.
